Greece Adventures: Sun, History, and Delicious Food

Greece has always been on our travel bucket list, and finally experiencing it did not disappoint. During our brief stay, we explored some of the country’s most iconic destinations, enjoyed incredible food, and met some of the friendliest people. From the bustling streets of Athens to the charm of Thessaloniki, every stop left a lasting impression.

Athens: Sun, History, and Quaint Streets

Athens was hot—really hot—but beautiful. Visiting the Acropolis and seeing the Parthenon in person was breathtaking, even if it was crowded under the blazing sun. There’s something awe-inspiring about standing in a place that’s been so significant for thousands of years.

The city below the Acropolis was a lovely contrast, quaint streets and charming architecture that made wandering around so enjoyable. Food in Athens was another highlight. Fresh, refreshing, and flavorful, every meal felt perfect for the warm weather, from Greek salads to grilled seafood and tzatziki.

Thessaloniki: Friendly People and a Memorable Winery Visit

Our stay in Thessaloniki was brief but memorable. The Hyatt Regency was comfortable, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. The city itself felt vibrant yet approachable, with a charm that made it easy to enjoy even in a short visit.

One of the highlights of our time in Thessaloniki was visiting a local winery, Domaine Florian. The wine was spectacular, and the owners were so friendly. When we arrived, they were closed for a private party, but they welcomed us in for a tasting anyway. We bought some wine and spent a little time enjoying the view from their balcony overlooking the vineyard—it was peaceful, beautiful, and felt wonderfully authentic.
